"Spastic colitis symptoms affects the large bowel, where the stool is stored. Now, any time that you see the word spastic, that is very irritable. It will also, the person may present with diarrhea or constipation. It could go either way. They also will present with gas and bloating. Your abdomen will swell. They might be nauseated, abdominal pain and cramps. This comes on as an acute attack, which is a sudden attack. It's a physical disorder, not an emotional disorder. Although it could effect the emotions if you have it for period of time, but any a colon is spastic, it could present with some of these symptoms. Any time there are symptoms of the spastic colon, a person is going to present with lots of discomfort whether they eat regularly or not. But it can present with diarrhea or constipation, so don't let that fool you if a person has just the diarrhea and is not constipated it could be either one to be able to present as a spastic colon."
