"Hi I'm Rachel Yatuzis and I'm going to show you how to remove mold from leather. In a lot of cases leather if there's mold on leather it's found on furniture. I'm going to use this jacket to demonstrate how to do this. Just remember if you have a lot of mold on furniture clean it outdoors if at all possible and wear a mask so that you don't breathe in the you know the molecules and all that from the mold. But breathing in mold can be really bad for you. It can make you cough, it can aggravate your asthma if you have asthma. So what you want to do is get some mild, mild detergent like dish soap or just a mild hand soap. Not anything that's super heavy duty like really, really de-greasing or anything like that. That's going to dry your leather out a little too much so get a really mild soap and some water. If you got a bigger project of course you want to use a bucket but since I just have this jacket I'm going to use just a little bit of water with this detergent. I'm going to stir it up to mix the soap and the water really well and you want to have a soft bristle toothbrush like this one. You should keep one around your house all the time anyway just for cleaning. So you just want to scrub the spot with the mold with that toothbrush and soap. Scrub it until that mold is completely out. If you want to put a dab of vinegar on it afterwards just to disinfect it a little more that's also a good idea. And have some leather conditioner handy. You want to wipe the area clean with the damp cloth and then apply a leather conditioner to restore the moisture onto your leather. I'm Rachel Yatuzis and that is how you remove mold from leather."
