"Today we are going to talk a little bit about do it yourself plumbing. A lot of different projects you might be able to think you can tackle yourself but before you decide to jump into it make sure you have the proper tools and a little bit of mindset on what you are doing. When I go to a job I make sure I am going to have everything I need. If it comes to a plumbing water heater, copper pipe sweating anything in that origin I know I am going to have what I need to do it. If you don't think you are comfortable enough to do it yourself don't try it because you might run into a big mistake where it is going to be hard to fix. If you are ever going to tie into some water lines, try and hook up a hot water heater make sure you shut off your main water, don't think you are just going to jump into it and come in here and cut it and fix it and be done with it. Here we have got a water main back here in the bag, if you decide to tie into something, switch out a water heater or whatever you want to do, make sure you shut the water down first, drain your water down first before you try tackling something you don't know what you are getting into because if you went to try and cut this water line right now you are going to have a flood in your basement. Some people want to try and work with copper lines, not everybody can sweat a copper joint. Make sure you know what you are doing before you do it and if you don't hire a professional or seek other kind of professions where you can go on line where you can get some information or whatever you have got to do. Some people prefer to work with PVC water lines which is more of a glue solvent fitting. You get yourself a can of glue, you cut your pipe, you clean it, you glue it together and you don't have to worry about having your torch and your solder and your flux. It just make life a little bit easier. Other people might think they want to change out their own kitchen sink faucet or toilet which is fine just make sure you kind of know what you are going to do before you jump into it. You don't want to go try and change a toilet and not exactly know what you are doing and have it leak and ruin your floor and then still have to call a plumber back to do the job that you already tried to do once it may cost twice as much. If I was coming to set a toilet for your house I'm going to make sure that I shut down all your water lines, I'm going to pull your toilet up and get a nice wax ring, you set that first, you set your toilet then you are good to go but you don't want to jump into something unless you really know what's going on. So that's what I come here today to try and explain to you that make sure that you have the right tools and the right material for the job before you try to jump into something you might get head over heels involved with because it could end up being a big mess for you."
