Hi, I'm Trina Sims of Green Star Herbs, and today I'm going to tell you about some herbal remedies for puffy faces. There are a number of herbs that can be steeped to make a tea and then used either in a teabag or simply soak a soft, clean cotton cloth in one of the teas and place that over the puffy face. Lie down with your feet up for a few minutes. A commercial version of any of these teas is perfectly all right, or you can stuff your own teabags at home. Some of the herbs that are most appropriate for this sort of use include plain old green tea, chamomile, calendula, lavender, and rose. Some people find the pink rose is a little gentler on the skin than a deep red rose. Other things you can do are make some soothing masks for yourself. A cucumber is a lovely way to care for puffy, tired, irritated skin. All you need to do is chop up about half of a cucumber and then either mash it with a fork or run it through a blender. Make some mush, lie down, cover your face in that mushed up cucumber, and simply relax for a few minutes. You'd be amazed how effective that is. Another wonderful base for a soothing mask for a puffy face is plain old oatmeal, and you can mix that with any of the herb teas we've just discussed with any milk from plain, common whole milk to buttermilk, which has a nice, stimulating, slightly acidic effect on the skin and can be useful for acne to almond milk, rice milk, goat milk, or practically any other soothing liquid that you'd like to use on your skin. A whole egg can be blended with the oatmeal to make a nice balanced mask, and if you separate the egg and use only the white, the mask becomes very tightening. And if you mix only the yolk with that oatmeal, then the mask becomes deeply nourishing and moisturizing to the skin. Rinse any of these with cool water, blot dry, and pat on a nice, benign, gentle moisturizer. I hope this has given you some ideas for pleasant ways to remedy puffy faces at home. Thank you.
