Types of Annual Flowers

"I'm Bill Elzey with Showplace Lawns. Let's talk about types of annual flowers. First off, the annual plants, the annual flowers, are those that only last a year. You always replace them every year. Those are the ones you plant in the spring and then throw out in the fall and start over next year. Primarily most of your bedding plants, ones you put in in little bed areas and stuff are annual plants or annual flowers. They do serve a purpose because they will brighten the various corners and spots of the yard and work together with your perennials, your trees and other things and will look really good. Annuals are also good container plants because you can move 'em around, hanging baskets, things like that. Several types of annual that are really good are your Zinnias, Dianthus, the Petunias, Marigolds, and Impatiens. In our part of the world, you definitely want to be sure that your Impatiens are in shade because the sun and the heat we have will tear them up, but types of annuals are Zenia, Dianthus, Petunia, Marigolds, and Impatiens, and with these, you can get a variety of colors and have somethin' that will really brighten up the yard."
