"Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today, I'm going to talk to you about some practical uses for Excel. What I'm going to show you is a very simple use for Excel, and that's called graphing. So let's go to our computer. We're going to open up Excel by clicking on the Start button, going to All Programs. Let's find Microsoft Office, and then click on Excel. Now, I'm going to create a very simple spreadsheet here of employees and their number of sales. Now, I'm going to type in the names of my employees and some of their sales numbers. Now, with my data typed in, I'm going to very easily insert what's called a graph in Excel. I'm just going to highlight this information by basically, I held my mouse button down until they were all selected. And then I'm going to go to the Insert tab, and let's insert a bar chart under the Charts section, and let's just do a simple 2D bar. And as you can see, just by clicking that button, a bar chart has been inserted into our Excel spreadsheet automatically using the data that we typed in. I can change the formatting of this chart simply by selecting the different types of charts that are available here under chart styles. And I can do the same thing if I...if I highlight my data again and go to Insert. Let's do a pie chart this time. Let's just do a simple 2D pie. And as you can see, there's a simple little pie chart for each of my employees with a different color, showing the number of sales for date period that is shown. My name is Dave Andrews, and I'm just showing you some practical uses for Microsoft Excel."
