"Hi, my name's Dave Andrews, and today I'm going to talk to you about how well wireless Internet works. Now, wireless Internet has been around now for a couple years, and basically that allows your computer, in most cases a laptop but also a computer if it has the right hardware, to access the Internet wirelessly without being plugged into your Internet connection. Now, obviously this will never function as well as a regular cabled connection will because there's so much more involved with a wireless connection, but wireless systems have basically evolved to a point where they are very reliable. If you have one in your home what you'd like to consider is the distance that you're normally going to be from where you have your wireless access point. You know, you don't want to put it down in the farthest reaches of your basement or up in your attic. You want to put it somewhere around maybe your living room or your den, the bedrooms. That way, you can carry your laptop around to the places that you'll be in the most and most likely to use your wireless Internet connection. Another thing to consider is when you go to a place such as as open Internet cafe that offers wireless access. You need to make sure that you're sitting in an area that's not at the very edge of the store; not off in the back somewhere, because they're going to put their wireless Internet connection right at the front or in the middle somewhere where it can reach the most customers as possible. I'm going to go to the computer, and I'm going to show you a couple things here to consider. Now, this is a this is a wireless access point. This is basically what broadcasts the Internet signal that your computer's going to use. I'd suggest you go with Linksys. There's several other brands out there, but this is what I've used for years. They're they're the workhorses of home wireless Internet. Now, if you're not interested in getting a a wireless connection for your own home broadband service you can also connect... Most of the cellphone carriers such as Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, they're offering these cards that you can plug into your laptop and it'll access their cellular network to get on the Internet with, and of course you have to pay a monthly fee to use that. It's usually around the same as a cellphone, but it'll allow you to go actually away from an access point and still get on the Internet. My name's Dave Andrews, and I've just talked to you a little bit about how well wireless Internet works."
