"Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to load an Operating System on a computer. Now what I am going to do is I'm going to load Windows XP on a computer. And I'm going to do it virtually. But what you are going to need in order to load an operating system, such as Windows XP, is a CD from your OEM. Most times you'll get those when you buy the computer. If you don't have a CD you need one. So you will probably have to go out to a store and purchase a new license for the operating system you want to load. So let's go to our computer here. And we'll start a virtual computer that has a Windows XP CD selected to boot from. Basically what you'll do instead is you'll pop that CD into your computer CD drive and you'll turn the computer on. Now it is just recognizing that there is no operating system on that computer so it's going to load the Windows set up. If you already had in some kind of operating system installed, it would of asked you, if you wanted to boot to the CD, by saying please press a key. And you just press a key and it will open up this Windows set up screen. This can take up a little time to load so just wait until you get some menu options here. Now once you've reach this screen, it tells you it's ready to setup Windows XP. Just press the Enter key. Now it's going to ask you if you agree to Windows licensing scheme. You are going to press F8 to say that I do agree. And I'm using a virtual so I have to click send F8. Now it is going to ask you where you want to install that operating system. Just select the first partition that is unpartitioned. If there are partitions you want to remove, press the D key to delete them. But be very careful that you know what you're deleting because that memory won't be able to recovered. Now it's going to ask you to format. I suggest you use the NTFS file system. I'm going to select that quick one, but don't go with that in your case because it will do hard disk checking if you don't go with the quick version. It is now formatting my hard drive to install the OS. And right after it formats it goes into the process of copying the operating system files to the computer. My name is Dave Andrews, and I just told you how to load an operating system."
