"Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to transfer files over the Internet. Let's go to our computer. And of course when it comes to transferring information the first thing to think about is Email. When you are going to email a file to somebody, a lot of times your email companies that provide you with your email will limit the size of the file that you can send. I have here an example my large file dot text. And if I try to email this normally, let us just say that this file is getting blocked because it's too large. One way to reduce the size of that file is to right click on it, and then click on Send To, and then click on Compressed or Zipped folder. Now what that has just done is that's just created a new document here, called, with the same file name but with dot zip at the end. So this file is much smaller than the original and I can try to email that document. Now there are times when you're trying to transfer files to your work or company or an organization. And they provide you of what is called a FTP access. I'm going to show you how to access and FTP server for now. Let's click on the start button. And then click on computer. And I'm going to transfer this My Large File to an FTP site. I'm just going to use my website. Type in the address that is provided to you by the FTP administrator with FTP:// at the beginning of it. Now it's going to ask you for your login credentials. I'm going to type mine in now. Alright, once you have typed in you credentials and logged in. You're going to be presented with a list of the files that currently exist on that server. I'm just going to scroll down a little bit to show you all the files that are listed here. And I'm going to grab the file that I want to transfer. I'm just going to drag it by holding my mouse button down. I'm going to pull it into the white space here. And I'm going to release my mouse button. That is now uploaded this file, My Large File, to the FTP server and transferred it over the Internet. My name is Dave Andrews and I just showed you how to transfer files over the Internet."
