"Hi, my name's Dave Andrews. Today, I'm going to show you how to fix PC mouse problems. Now, this is a modern PC mouse, and if you look on the very bottom of it, it's going to have a little red laser light area right here, which is basically how the mouse knows that it's moving along a table. It shoots out a new light and...it shoots out a laser light, rather, and it determines, by the reflection of that light, whether or not it's moving. Now, I'm going to take this mouse and plug it into the computer and you'll see that the light will come on. Now, if you're having a PC mouse troubles, the very first thing that you ought to check is whether or not the laser on the bottom of your mouse is lit. As you notice, I plugged it in and this laser basically turned on. Now, if that laser's not lit, then you need to check the connection on your mouse, make sure it's plugged in firmly, unplug it, plug it back in, and just see what happens. If that laser still does not come on, I've got a few things that I could show you on the computer how to check. So let's go to our computer now. And since my mouse is not working in this demonstration, basically what we want to do is we want to open up our Start menu. And the way that you do that using the keyboard is you hold down the Ctrl key and you press Esc, and that will open up your Start menu. So you can use your arrow keys to move around in the...in the Start menu just by pressing up and down and left and right to move around. What I'm going to do is I'm going to highlight Computer, and I'm going to right-click on that. There's a right-click button. If you look on the bottom row of your keyboard next to the space bar in-between the Alt and Ctrl, there's a right-click button. Just press that, and then move down with the arrows and click on Manage by pressing the Enter key. Now, I'm going to arrow over and press Continue. This brings up the Computer Management screen. Now, what I want to do is I want to go to Device Manager, and I'm going to use the Tab key to move between areas in this screen. But I'm going to highlight the Device Manager on the left and I'm going to press my Tab key to move over to the center, and I'm going to scroll down all the way to the bottom where it says Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Now, you need to check that. If you have any yellow or red icons there, then that means the USB hub in your computer has failed. If these USB hubs are still working and your mouse is not, chances are, your mouse is having a hardware malfunction. My name's Dave Andrews, and I've just told you how to troubleshoot PC mouse problems."
