How to Get Rid of a Computer Virus

"Hi my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to get rid of a computer virus. I'm going to do this by showing you a free anti-virus program that you can download and install over the Internet. So let's go to our computer and what we're going to use is called Avast. If you click on your Start button and open up your web browser, in the address bar and the very, very top, you need to replace what's in there with www.avast, A V A S T, .com. Now before you download and install Avast, it's important for me to note that you should not install it if you already have anti-virus software installed such as Norton or Symantec or McAfee or something like that, that'll need to be removed first because more than one anti-virus program on a computer can conflict with each other. So once you get to their website, let's go to the download and then click on programs. And we're going to click on Avast Home Edition. Now just read through this text, as you can see there's a free registration and you can also download it by clicking on download the English version, I'll just click on that now. It's going to ask you what you want to do, click on run. Now it's going to download and install Avast to your computer, it's about 30 megabytes so it could take a little bit of time to download. I already have it installed. Now to use it to scan for viruses, you'll see a little blue ball down at the very bottom with an A on it, just right click on that and then click on start Avast anti-virus. Now I've already got it open, this is what you'll see. Basically what we're going to do is we're going to scan our hard drive by clicking on the little hard drive icon. I'm going to tell it to scan archive files as well. And now we need to tell it what folders to scan. I would suggest you select your C and D and all of your hard drives except for your CD drive. I'm just going to go with the C drive for now. Click OK and then click the play button for start. That's going to go through and scan your entire computer for any type of virus that it can locate and it will remove it from there.
