"Hi my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to record a sound on a Windows computer. The first thing you're going to need to record is some type of microphone. I have a little small one here and it has an eighth of an inch jack that will plug into the microphone jack on my computer. Some laptops also have a microphone built into them. Mine is actually on my screen here, these little holes that have an icon of a microphone right next to them. So once you have your microphone, let's go to our computer and I'll show you how to record a sound. Just click on your Start button and we're going to go to all programs, let's go to the accessories menu and the program we're going to launch is real simple, it's called sound recorder. This program serves no other purpose then just recording the sound that's going into the microphone. Now as I'm talking here, you can see that the level on the sound recorder mixer is actually going up. That's just showing you that it's actually getting some data coming through the microphone. So I'm going to click start recording and now that that is running, it is actually recording all of the sounds that are going in through my microphone. It's not saving them to a tape or anything like that, it's actually saving them digitally on the computer. So if I click stop recording here, it's going to ask me where I want to save my file. I'm going to put it on my desktop and I'm going to call it example. So you can see that that file has just appeared and I'm going to open it now and you actually hear it playing back all of the sounds I recorded. My name is Dave Andrews and I've just showed you how to record a sound on a Windows computer."
