"Hi this is Bill Scher from liberaloasis.com. What is environmental justice? Well environmental justice is the attempt to ensure that pollution is not disproportionately affecting poor communities, and the communities of people of color, which is often the case. You will find more toxic waste, air pollution, things of that nature in lower income communities, which is an extra layer of oppression that keeps folks from being healthy, from fully flourishing, and be able to be upwardly mobile in American society. It is also proven to be a way of expanding the participation in the environmental movement, which is generally, which in it's origin has been largely dominated by white Americans, even though environmental problems effect all Americans. Focusing on environment justice has helped widen the participation in the environmental movement to be as diverse as America as a whole."
