"For personal email there tends to be, falls into two different categories. There's a number of web page services that such as Gmail, Yahoo, AIM, Hotmail and a large number of other services that are available. There's also services which are available basically through your Internet service provider. I would actually recommend generally that you use a web page service because occasionally, you're going to want to change whoever your home Internet service provider is because you may move; maybe dissatisfied with service and if you've got all of your email going to some place that you no longer want to do business with; it's generally a bad idea and it takes a lot of effort. So it's just generally easier to just setup a, one of the web mail services to start with. When you pick an Internet web service, one of the main things you want to consider of this is if there are friends that use the same service and if you're going to want to use an instant messaging chat. Because generally it's easier to chat with other people that are on the same service so that if they're all using Gmail, you may want to sign up for Gmail; if they're using MSN, you may want to use that; if they're using Yahoo, you may want to use that."
