"A listserv is a device whereby if you the listserv, it will go to all the members of the list server. This has been about for a long time from email. There's a very large listserv hosting which is Yahoo Groups and and they host many many types of list serves of all types from kayaking to meet ups to social various and sundry things along that line. List serves are also used by schools and by businesses to disseminate information to the people interested and it can be a very specific listserv that probably pretty much nobody other than the listserv may be interested in. One big word of warning about any listserv, that always ends up catching pretty much everyone, at some point or another, is that if you reply to a message from a listserv, quite often it will go back to all of the people in the list server. So, if you say something like, gosh that Tonie, boy, she was really bad, well you probably just emailed it to Tonie along Tonie's friends at the same time. So you should be very careful when you reply to anything as far as what you end up saying and who it's actually going to."
