Hi everybody I'm John Graden. I'm an NGH certified hypnotist trainer working out of Clearwater Beach, Florida in the Tampa Bay area. How to hypnotize somebody when you're speaking. What an interesting topic because virtually all hypnosis is done through words, it's through language patterns. It's through tapping into the emotions of the person we're trying to reach. Let's talk a little bit about hypnosis just for a second. I like to think about hypnosis as trance, not sleep, but trance. And we're in a trance all day long. Sometimes we're in trance. So what a good communicator tries to do is to take the issues, the things that he or she is trying to convey and then boil it down and make an emotional connection with the audience. So we see politicians do this with the state of the union address, they'll be talking about a large problem for all of us, then they'll go to the audience and they'll use an example, someone who's just lost their job or somebody who died in Iraq, something of that nature. They make an emotional connection with the audience by personalizing it. So as hypnotists, our job is to bypass that intellectual mind and reach that emotional mind, the subconscious mind and one of the best ways to do that is with stories. I'm a parent, sometimes my kids are 6 and 8 right now, they have a hard time getting to sleep. They want Daddy to tell them a story. So rather than read to them a story and in some cases, especially if it's a quickie and I'm going to knock them out pretty fast, I'll tell them a story I'll use a metaphor and I'll talk about these two princes that were out in the forest and they were heading home but they got lost and they got lost in this meadow that had all this cotton floating around and as they went through the meadow working their way, they could feel themselves getting more tired, more drowsy, more tired, more drowsy until before you know it, 90 seconds later I've got two snoring boys. So how do we hypnotize people speaking? Virtually all hypnosis is done with words but there's specific language patterns designed to bypass the conscious mind, bypass their critical factor in hypo-speak and talk directly to the subconscious mind and make that emotional connection. I'm John Graden, come see me at JohnGraden.com. Thanks.
