How to connect a computer with wireless capabilities to a MTS Wireless DSL Modem, using 802.11g wireless

Summary: We'll review the easy steps on how to connect a computer with wireless capability to the GT724WG MTS Wireless DSL Modem. All instructions will show a computer that is running Microsoft Vista although the steps are quite similar among the different operating systems.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    On any computer that is connected to the Modem, type http://192.168.100.254 in the web browser window and then press Enter.

  2. Step 2

    Enter your User Name and Password and click OK.

  3. Step 3

    Select "Wireless Settings" from the top bar.

  4. Step 4

    Select “Basic Settings” from the menu on the left.

  5. Step 5

    Write down the name of your Wireless Network or ESSID and the WPA-PSK Key. Note: By default, Security is turned off. We recommend turning Security on. See "How to turn on the wireless feature on your GT724WG Wireless DSL Modem for MTS".

  6. Step 6

    Go to the computer that you want to connect wirelessly to the Modem. Right click on the "Wireless Icon" on the bottom righthand corner of your screen. Then select "Connect to a network".

  7. Step 7

    Then select the name of the network and click "Connect".

    Note: The network name should match the name of the ESSID listed on the Basic Settings Page.

  8. Step 8

    You'll be asked to enter a password. Enter the WPA-PSK Key as the password. Make sure that you enter the WPA-PSK Key EXACTLY as it is written.You'll need to pay attention to the use of capitalization etc.Then click Connect.

  9. Step 9

    Once you see the screen "Successfully connected to....", make sure that the boxes next to "Save this network" and "Start this connection automatically" are checked. Now click "Close".

  10. Step 10

    Now you'll need to select a location for where you are, i.e. Home.

    Congratulations! You should be connected to the GT724WG MTS Wireless DSL Modem.
