"Hello, my name is Dr. Sian Evans. I'm a scientist at Monkey Jungle in Miami Florida. In this clip we're going to talk about pet monkeys. In the past, and by the past I probably mean fifty years ago, pet monkeys were relatively easy to acquire. There were not very many regulations concerning their ownership and people were also not very well informed in how to take care of them. Monkeys were dressed as small humans and with limited success the owners tried to integrate them into their family lives. These days, it is much more difficult to own a pet monkey. Buying a pet monkey is more difficult and you may find that you live in an area where pet monkeys are basically just not allowed. If you do end up owning a pet monkey, I would recommend that you always keep more than one of them so that the monkey has a social companion and research carefully what they need to eat and the kind of cages they should live in. This is Dr. Sian Evans."
