"How to choose a dance recital theme. I will give you several ideas today on how I like to go about choosing my dance recital themes. First of all, oftentimes I will find costumes that may have a similar theme in common. Through picking out these costumes, oftentimes, it will lead you to a great idea for a dance recital theme. Secondly, I like to talk to students and parents. Some of the children have wonderful, wonderful ideas of what they would like to do for a theme for their recital. Oftentimes, I'll also go to dance magazines and see what kind of themes other people are doing across the country. It's never a really good idea in my opinion to use a theme of a local dance studio that's close to you, but you may find in another state somebody did somethin' that you really enjoy; seasons of the month, themes of music, movies. All of these are great ways to get ideas for your next recital theme. Talk to friends of yours that are performers and find out what they have done recently for their shows. That's a great way to come up with your next recital theme idea. And also, never forget the current trends. Oftentimes, they will give you a great leeway to an idea that you would like to use for your next recital."
