"The question is asked, "How to teach a child to become a baseball player?" The very best way to do that is to show the child that you have interest in baseball and that's one of the things that you enjoy doing. Children tend to emulate and have interest in the same things that their parents have interest in. So if you want your child to become a good baseball player, then go out in the yard and play with him. I can think of nothing better for a father and a son or even a mother and a daughter to do and go out in the yard and play. Do a nice game of catch. Show your child the fundamentals of catching, throwing. Have them hit around the yard a little bit. Show them the correct way to swing the bat. And anything that you have expertise in that you can teach them about the fundamentals will make them a better baseball player. Always make sure that you stress fundamentals, but always even more importantly make sure that you keep those drills and those practices fun. Main thing that keeps us from burning out our children or keeping them from being interested in sports is that we sometimes become too much of a task master, so make it a fun activity. Show them how to catch properly. Show them how to throw properly. But make it a game within a game. See how many they can catch out of ten. See how many they can hit out of ten, that sort of thing to make it fun. And when you've reached a point where your expertise can no longer teach them at the level that they're playing, then seek out a trained professional. Almost every city has a hitting academy or a baseball academy so that you can take your child for some professional lessons. But the main thing is that always remember that fun is number one. Keep it fun. Get out in the yard and spend some time with your child and that's how to become a better baseball player."
