"Hello my name is Rebecca Herrick. I'm a licensed massage therapist in Wilmington, North Carolina. I'm here to tell you a little bit about how to massage away cellulite. There are many different techniques and spa treatments and different tools that are used in order to get rid of cellulite. Ninety per cent of women have cellulite. It is basically what is cellulite and it is the storage of fat underneath your skin. Massage is not going to automatically make this fat disappear but what it does is actually just redistribute the fat cells to create a smoother appearance. General techniques that are used for this are gliding strokes, deep friction, cross fiber friction and basically just working that tissue in order to redistribute those fat cells which is a nice way to combat cellulite because you get the added benefits of increased circulation and relaxation that massage brings all the while affecting the distribution of cellulite in the body. Basically just redistributing that fat that is located underneath the skin above the muscle through gliding and friction is the basis for getting rid of cellulite through massage."
