"Hello my name is Rebecca Herrick. I'm a licensed massage therapist at Everything Peaceful in Wilmington, North Carolina and I'm here to tell you a little bit about how to give hot stone massages. First of all you need your stones. They can be of various different types but they should all be smooth and not absorbable of water because you are going to be soaking them in water and that's how you heat them. You can get any kind of roaster. They make professional massage therapy roasters that is here but they also make roasters for any kind of food you can get as well, they work just as well. You want to fill it with water in order to cover all the stones that you put inside and you want to bring that water up to about 120 degrees, about. Basically you will want to have one of these spoons or tongs. There are various utensils you can use in order to lift the stones out of the water without burning your hands. Once you do lift them out of the water you want to set them on a cool towel in order for them to cool a little bit so that you don't burn your client and then basically you just incorporate them into any swedish massage. You can use slow smooth gliding strokes. You can just set them on the client's body parts that need tension relief from the various benefits that your muscle tissues receive from heat and just use them in order to enhance any other type of massage. I use them in all my treatments. It is great for a Winter day so that is the basics of how to give a hot stone massage."
