Video Transcript

"Hello my name is Rebecca Herrick. I'm a licensed massage therapist here in Wilmington, North Carolina. I also practice shiatsu and I am here to tell you a little bit about the training process to become a shiatsu practitioner. If you are a licensed body work therapist or massage therapist you can take an intensive weekend course about 30 hours in order to get your certificate to become a shiatsu practitioner. That usually covers the basics and lets you incorporate shiatsu into your treatments. You get a full body shiatsu treatment out of that course but if you want to specialize in shiatsu or if you are not a body work practitioner licensed by your state then you are going to want to find out the licensing criteria for that state. Usually there is an intensive about year or two training process usually costing maybe about $7000 or so in order to really get the training you need, the theory, the practical experience needed in order to safely practice shiatsu in various states and different conditions. Those are the basics of shiatsu training."
