How to Tie a Chef's Knot

"Hello, this is Andrew Reynolds and today I'm going to show you how to make a chef's knot. Now this is a knot that chefs use to place a handkerchief around their neck or like a little three inch scarf, just something decorative, simple, quick to do and was functional as well to keep the sweat from dripping on to the food. So we're just going to use this rope today for demonstration purposes since it's, is very easy to see what's going on. So they would take their rolled up handkerchief or a scarf and place it around their neck and basically very simply you would place the right hand over the left hand strand and pull it through and what you're going to end up with is what was originally your right hand, is still in your right hand. Make sure that that happens. And then you would cinch it up to the desired height and you would take the left hand, place it over the right hand and pull that one through the knot that you just created. And you cinch it up until you get something just of a decorative little place there. You see that it just kind of wraps around and then wraps around again. It's very simple, very easy to do and creates a decorative knot which is the chef's knot. Thank you for watching."
