Did you know you should answer an interview question in about sixty seconds. Hi, I'm Shannon Terry and I'm an interview skills coach and resume writer with Resume Confidence here to help you learn how to answer a question in an interview. First, task is to listen, so that you make sure you're answering the question they're actually asking. If you're not sure, ask for clarification or paraphrase what you think you heard to be sure. Answer your questions then in a structured way. You can either paraphrase, which means to include part of the question in your answer or set the stage in a way such as, "Well, when I was a..." And then give your former job title and then give the former company. This way they can follow on your resume exactly what you're talking about. Then you can say something like, "I was given the challenge of...", or "I was give the opportunity to... " and then you continue with your story remember to keep all of this within about one minute's time give or take per question. If you're asked a multi-stage question, you have one minute per segment. Lastly, breath, smile and relax. You'll do great. I'm Shannon Terry, an interview skills coach and resume writer with Resume Confidence, helping you learn how to answer questions in an interview.
