Hi friends, I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida. You know a lot of people have asked me can salt kill fleas or how do I use salt if I want to kill the fleas? Well I am going to let you know yes salt will kill fleas because salt is actually a desiccant and fleas can be killed by using salt. Now how do I use it in my house? Well you want to get some finely ground salt and spread evenly over the carpeted areas of the home. Now what the salt does once you apply it over these areas is the salt will actually lay in the carpet and as the fleas and the flea larva jump through the salt the little crystals of salt will actually attach themselves to the body of the fleas and the larva. Now once they attach and as the flea walks the little crystals actually etch the side of the skin of the flea and the larva causing the flea to actually bleed and it actually dries them out once and in a sense they will bleed to death and they die right there in the carpet. Now after you have let this set on the carpet for about oh a week or ten days you want to make sure that you go ahead and you vacuum very thoroughly over the carpet and that will eliminate any salt that is left over in the carpeted area. You might want to do this once or twice. When you are done eliminate the actual bag from the vacuum cleaner and throw that away. That is going to help you keep fleas down in the home by only using organic methods with salt. I am Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida hoping you have pest free day.
