Hi I'm often asked how to get rid of hobo spiders. I'm Michael Piacenza with Advantage Pest Control and I'm here to help you with that problem. Well hobo spiders is just one of the names of a family of spiders. They are also called aggressive house spiders, common domestic spiders and fall in a general category of funnel spiders so funnel spiders will put out a web in vegetation or along the soil that is kind of an ugly looking little mat type of a web and then that will lead back to a nice neat little funnel and that's where they are at. They are just waiting for something to come along and get tangled in that mat and they run out and bite them. Now they are cytotoxic so if they bite you and they will bite, that is why they are called aggressive spiders it will cause a decay of the area and it can become infected and become an open wound so you need to have that taken care of immediately. So how do we get rid of them? Well the best way to take care of spiders is to eliminate their food source so you make sure that you don't have other insects in your house that they are going to be preying on and to clean up any areas where you have debris, they'll put their little webs between the debris so you want to keep things nice and neat and tidy and clean. Now you can put down a pesticide and there are some safe biopesticides and synthetics as well. The best is to use a dust because spiders will crawl through it and it will get on their body and it will absorb that way. Now spiders aren't like other insects so they don't groom themselves so they are not ingested in it that way so you have to get quite a bit of dust in the area where they are at so they it actually gets on their body and absorbs. Well I hope this has been helpful and keeps you safe. I'm Michael with Advantage Pest Control. Good day.
