"Hi friends I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida. A lot of people have asked us how can I protect myself against mosquitoes? Well number one is the easiest way to protect yourself is to stay out of the areas at dusk. At dusk mosquitoes tend to come out and they are very very heavy in the area at night but if you do go out make sure you are wearing either a long sleeve shirt, long sleeve pants and that will detract or stop some of the mosquitoes from going ahead and biting you, that's the number one thing that you can do. Number two is by elimination of areas where mosquitoes breed from in and around the home. Now that can be done by making sure that you don't have any tired stacked up around the home that may have water in them. You can empty those out or if you have a child's swing you may have to just drill a hole at the bottom of the tire and that will drain the water off. That will help keep the water out of the inside of the tire. Plants such as Vermilions like to hold a lot of water. If you can go ahead and get the water out of those plants that will also stop the mosquito larvae from developing. Another thing are rain barrels. More and more people are using rain barrels now but they don't put the lid on top of the rain barrel and then the mosquitoes get inside of the rain barrel and lay a lot of eggs and that also helps to breed more mosquitoes. Simple things that you can do around the home to help you prevent from mosquitoes from biting you are these things I just mentioned plus the use of products like Deet, any type of mosquito repellent like with Deet on the label. You have got to look for that it is very important. You spray that on you very lightly or products such as Skin So Soft can be used too. All of these are great controls for the prevention of mosquito bites and of course that helps protect you from any illness or diseases that the mosquitoes may carry. I'm Mark Govan with the ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida hoping you have a pest free day."
