"Does an Analog TV with a digital converter box need an antenna? If you're not on any cable system or satellite system, yes, it does need an antenna. And, the antenna can be connected usually in this type of connection right here in the back of the digital converter box. And, then this digital converter box takes the antenna signal, converts the digital signal over to analog and then sends it to your television set so that can be displayed on your TV. But, if you do not have an antenna, you will not get anything going into this box which means it won't produce anything. If you are on a cable system, you do not need an antenna because the cable would go into the digital converter box. Some cable companies provide you with a digital converter box for their systems. Also, satellite companies will require that you have a digital converter box also but, if you don't have satellite or cable, yes, you need an antenna to receive your signals."
