So you're wanting to tone your muscles and you picked up a tens unit and wondering how it works. The first and foremost thing you're going to look into your manual and you'll see there's different settings, different ones for everything you're looking for as far as if you're looking for circulation there's a setting for that to increase blood flow. Also there's a setting that is for pain, directing more towards nerve therapy. Also there's going to be one that's for strength and endurance. So if you're wanting to tone muscles with your tens unit, proper placing is going to be top priority. You're going to want to make sure if you're looking to place the electrodes on the shoulder, you're going to want to go one on the inside, one on the outside. Also if you're looking to do bicep, tricep, same thing, you're going to have one on the outside, one on the inside. Bicep one on the top, one on the bottom. So in closing, using a tens unit for muscle toning stimulation is a great way to not have to wait in line at a gym, to do it in the privacy of your home or workplace. If you are using a tens unit for nerve damage or physical therapy and you don't feel like your placements are right with the electrodes or you don't feel like you're getting better in those areas, always consult a physician and a professional.
