Hi, my name is Charlotte Skiles. I'm a Nutrition Consultant and Clinical Herbalist with Eat in Peace Wellness Consulting located in Austin, Texas. And today I'm going to be talking to you about Oprah Winfrey's cleansing diet. And what this diet involves is a vegan approach to eating. So that means no animal product whatsoever; no refine carbohydrates; no alcohol; no caffeine and hey, you get to give your body a really nice break from the daily grind, so to speak, of all the foods that we eat that were not design to consume and our bodies aren't design to process. So that's what Oprah's cleansing diet is, is a vegan diet; free of animal products; that's all vegan mean. She happens to add on there removal of all, you know, dietary burdens and toxicities, so to speak. And you do this once a year and your body gets a good break. Now if you want a list of, of recipes and how to follow the diet exactly, Oprah uses a book by Kathy Freston called Quantum Wellness; so I would recommend following through with that. But I think the important thing to point out about the cleansing diet of this nature is that, it is a short term experiment. I don't think that this sort of diet is sustainable long term; it's simply design to give the body a break and regarding cleansing and vegan diets, so many times it's not important what you're eating; it's more important what you're not eating. And I think that often people can forget that concept. So might be something worth looking into and that's what I have to say about Oprah Winfrey's cleansing diet.
