Can asthma episodes cause seizures? That's the question. Small sample testing in previous years, so there hasn't been a whole lot of data that has been collected through the years. There have been numerous studies, most recently that suggest relationship but nothing has ever been proved. And there's not much published data on this. It still appears unanswered. As for causing seizures, if you have a dual diagnosis, for instance you have asthma and seizures, and then there is an additional narrowing of the airways with perhaps infections or coughing and shortness of breath added with stress, of course this could be an overload that perhaps the patient could go into seizure activity. But as far as being able to prove that there is a direct relationship between the two there is not a whole lot of data to substantiate it and not much published data.
