"Hi, my name is Chip Browne. I teach computer programming in Microsoft Office Applications at Steven Henagar Business College here in Utah. I also create practice tests for Microsoft Office Applications Special Certifications. Today we're going to learn how to create an update action query in Microsoft Office Access 2007. Microsoft Access is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation. I'm not affiliated with Microsoft Corporation. To perform an update action query, you need to begin with a table with data in it. Here's a table that has two columns, string id and string data. We'll modify string id 115 and have a different string data. To do this, we need to go into the query design tool. Click on create tab and to the other group, click on create design. Add the table that will be updating. Next, change the query type from select which is the default to update. Now add the field that will contain the criteria of the record. Now add the field that has a new value. Now rerun the query. You're prompted that one will be updated and that this is irreversible. Now let's look at the table. Here's string id 115 and here is the new string. This is how you create an update action query.
