"Hi, my name is Brooke Kramer, and I am the financial aid officer with Argosy University in Salt Lake City. And today, we're going to talk about how to apply for federal grants. And the first thing you're going to want to do is complete the free application for federal student aid. You can find this at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You will need copies of your prior year federal tax forms, as well as your prior year's W-2s for you, your...your wife, if you're married, or your parents, if you are a dependent student. Next, you're going to want to contact the financial aid officer at the university or college that you have applied to. They will be able to let you know what you qualify for in Pell grant money, as well as if you qualify for other grants. Now, in order to qualify for a grant, there are a couple requirements. First, you need to show financial need, and this is what the FAFSA lets schools know what your financial need is. Next, you need to be an undergraduate student, and you need to be taking a certain amount of credit to show how much grant you will be eligible for. If you have any other questions regarding this, please visit our website at www.argosy.edu."
