Video Transcript

"This is Lois Adams, President and CEO of Freedom Pharmacy and Wellness Centers in Orlando, Florida. Today's segment is about the side effects of stopping the drug Lexapro. Lexapro is made by Forrest Pharmaceuticals and it is the number two antidepressant in the country. It is a drug which controls the chemical levels in our brain which affects our moods and makes sure that they are sustained at proper levels and that they function properly. It is used for Major Depression Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. It is also used in Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and Severe Social Disorders. You should take it only as directed and don't stop suddenly or suddenly stop taking this drug. The side effects of stopping are much worse than the actual side effects of the drug. There are sudden changes in feelings such as anxiety, panic attacks, hostility, aggression, inability to sleep and the depression may return. You should follow your physician's orders when you are trying to stop this and just because you are feeling better doesn't mean that you should stop taking it because those effects of suddenly stopping it will return. Be sure to see your physician and talk to him about doing this. This is our information about our segment on the side effects of stopping Lexapro."
