How to Clean & Shine Hardwood Floors

"Hi, I'm Rachel Yatuzis and I'm going to show you how to clean and shine your hardwood floors. There's many different ways you can do this, and anyone who owns a hardwood flooring company or who really knows about wood floors will tell you that vinegar and water is the best thing to clean 'em with. It doesn't leave spots, 'cause it evaporates quickly. It's safe for you and your family. It's not going to strip the wood. It's really, really good. It doesn't leave a waxy build-up that you have to go over, you know, every couple of years and remove it. So what you want to do is put about, I'd say about a cup of vinegar into a bucket. Fill it up the rest of the way with water. Of course you want to sweep or vacuum your floor first. If you have pets, I recommend vacuuming. That way you're actually getting the pet hair up and not just moving it around. But just go over your entire floor with vinegar and water, and, after that has dried, if you want to add a shine, you can purchase things like this, this Orange Glo stuff is good. It's really good about, you know, shining up anything that's made of wood, your cabinets, your furniture, your floor. The only thing is, I think it leaves a really nasty film on, you know, that's really visible and it's really tedious work. If you have olive oil in your home, you can put just a spot of olive oil onto a paper towel, or maybe a cleaning rag. And one little drop of olive oil, you can buff, I would say, maybe ten square feet with it. It does not take much, 'cause it's so strong and it's so moisturizing and it will leave your floor so shiny. You can do this with any of your furniture. There are other products you can buy that are supposed to do the same thing, but I always go with the all-natural route 'cause it's better for the environment and it's better for your family.
