How to Clean French Door Panes

French doors are made of glass panes and wood. They can open up a space and make a room appear larger. Because they are mostly glass, they can attract fingerprints and dust and become dirty easily. When the doors become dirty, they can make your entire space feel dirty, which defeats the purpose of opening two spaces up. However, cleaning the doors for a better appearance is not difficult.

French doors can be cleaned with a vinegar solution.

Step 1

Mix together 3 cups of water with 1 tsp. of dish detergent and 1 cup of vinegar. You can also mix 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of water and pour it into a spray bottle.

Step 2

Dip a clean rag into the vinegar mixture and wet one pane at a time. Start at the top of the door and work your way down. If you are using a spray bottle, spray one pane of glass with 2 to 3 pumps of the vinegar solution.

Step 3

Pull a squeegee across the glass beginning at the top and go downward. For very dirty panes, you may need to apply the vinegar more than once to completely remove all of the dirt.

Step 4

Wipe the bottom edge of the pane with a clean, dry cloth. A chamois is lint free and will work well for drying the glass.

Step 5

Continue with each pane until the entire window has been cleaned. Move to the other side of the window to clean the other side of each glass.
