"You may be contemplating either applying for employment somewhere or applying for a loan or applying for some type of license or certificate from the government and you're concerned about somethings in your background that may or may not show up on a background check. Hello, I'm Robert Todd and I'm here to answer the question what will show up on a background check. Well, basically the answer today is pretty much anything of significance in your life. Such as criminal convictions, DUI convictions, in some instances your driving record, bad credit, bankruptcy or anything of that nature. If you are applying for employment or you are applying for a loan, or you are applying for a license or certificate from the government, tell the truth, answer the questions that are asked of you. If you don't not only do you run the risk of being denied employment if you're applying for employment or credit if you're applying for credit, or a government license or certificate if that's what you're applying for, but by knowingly or falsely answering the question or concealing the answer to the question, you may be actually subjecting yourself to criminal liability. I'm Robert Todd and thank you for watching."

on 7/2/2009 Dear Mr. Todd,
I am of the understanding you are a professional in matters such as this, however, you are VERY WRONG! Convictions will show on your record, AS WELL AS, any arrest you have EVER had. If you have been arrested for something and found not guilty in a court of law, the arrest WILL STILL show up on your background check! Employers, for the most part, DO NOT KNOW HOW TO READ BACKGROUND CHECKS! They are under the impression that you are, that only convictions show, which is FALSE! So, when a prospective employer sees that you have been arrested, they will most likely resend your offer for employment, because they are under the impression it is a conviction. Please stop giving bad information, and tell these people that they do in fact need to worry and/or go about an expungement process.
