"You're thinking about moving into an apartment but you've never done this before and you're worried about signing a lease and you don't know what to do before you sign a lease. Hello, I'm Robert Todd and I'm here to answer the question, questions to ask landlords when renting an apartment. Well, one of the first things you want to know is how much is the rent going to be, how often do I have to pay the rent, how long is the lease, how can I get out of this lease if something happens, I lose my job or I join the military or I have a medical problem and have to relocate. Can I have a pet, if so how much is that going to cost? Can I have a roommate? If I have a roommate, do I have to sublease to that roommate and if I do, do I have to have the landlord's approval? Things of this nature. It's going to be very important to you to know how much of a deposit you're going to have to put down and whether you're going to have to put down first month's rent and last month's rent with a deposit and if so, how much is that going to be. You want to be sure and ask as many questions as you can because after you sign the lease, it's too late to find out the answers. I'm Robert Todd and thank you for watching."
