"You are contemplating a disability claim, but you're not sure whether you qualify for disability or what the ramifications are if you apply for disability. Hello, I'm Robert Todd, and I'm here to answer the question: How to know if you qualify for disability. Well, first of all, there are various kinds of disabilities, so the first question you want to ask yourself is: Is this disability the result of an on-the-job injury? Is it a result of a motor vehicle accident or the negligence of someone that injured you? Or is it from the natural aging process or a disease process or something of that nature? Because, for example, if you were injured on the job, you may be entitled to Workers' Compensation. And in that circumstance, Workers' Compensation law in your state is going to define what constitutes disability and what that qualifies you to receive. On the other hand, if your disability's a result of the negligence of another party, again, the law in your state is going to define what that disability is. And then finally, if you're disabled and you're seeking Social Security benefits, the Social Security law is going to define what that disability is all about. You may be eligible for one or a combination or all of these disabilities in certain instances. I'm Robert Todd, and thank you for watching."
