"Hi, I'm Beth Kaufman and I'm going to talk about how you can predict your marathon time. So, if you've run a 5K or a 10K, you may be able to predict your marathon time based off those short distances. However, your best chance of actually predicting your marathon time would be able to base it off either a previous marathon, or your most recent half marathon. The best way of predicting is to actually use an online tool. I recommend going to Runner's World at www.runnersworld.com, or you can also go to Running Times, www.runningtimes.com. There you should be able to find information on how to predict your marathon time based on a previous race. They will likely have a calculator where you can enter your time. It's important to remember that your mile time in a 5K or a 10K is going to be significantly faster than your mile time in a marathon. So you definitely do not want to go into a marathon thinking that you'll be able to run a mile pace similar to that of a 5K or a 10K, or even a half marathon. So as the races increase in distance, your mile time is going to start to decrease. So you do want to take that into consideration when training for a marathon. So that's some information on how to predict your marathon time."
