This is financial adviser Patrick Munro talking about how to find the best account rep for financial planning. Try to find an individual that you enjoy working with. I often times say as it begins, so it ends. Try to find an individual that is caring about you and asks more questions then tells you individual things. Asking questions is a good way to find out the empathy that a person would have and what their affairs are all about. Also make sure the individual is a member of the Better Business Bureau, a member of the National Ethics Bureau as well and that all their credentials have been checked out. They should be able to provide you data and show you that they are members of various organizations, most notably the financial planning association that they're members in good standing. Ask for references of several satisfied clients and call but make sure that you don't get into the business of those particular clients, that's a private matter, more stay general with the type of service that's been rendered and more often then not, you'll find that an adviser that gives you these references is the one to go with.
