My name is Josie Minks and I'm a Labor and Delivery Nurse in Austin, Texas and the question is, post, "How early can you take a blood test to determine pregnancy?" In the Human Chorionic Gonado-Tropin which is the hormone that determines if you're pregnant or not and is, is in the the blood test six to eight days after conception. So after you have intercourse, six to eight days later, you'll be able to tell in, in a blood test if you have the HCG. And you have to go to a doctor's office to get that blood test done. But each day, each subsequent day after those six to eight days, more of that Human Chorionic Gonado-Tropin hormone is produce and so it's really recommended that you wait a week after your miss menstrual cycle. So on average, women's menstrual cycles are 28 days and so a week later than what your average menstrual cycle is, so after you've miss one of a period, wait a week and that will be the most accurate pregnancy test. And so that is how long you, you can take a blood test to determine if you're pregnant.
