"I'm Steve Oxley from Denver Angler and now I'm going to teach you how to tie fly fishing line to the backing. Now we are going to attach fly line to the backing using a tool you can find at most fly shops to tie a nail knot which is a knot we are going to use. Take the tag end of the backing and about six inches of tag in and wrap it around the tool and up the tool pushing the loops together five times. Then take the tag end and run it in the groove of the tool and through there and then pull it all the way through, take the end of the fly line and put it through the other end of the tool about two to three inches. Then holding the loops in your hand, pool the tool out and then slowly pull on each end of the backing snugging the knot down and you have to hold it with your hands like that and switch hands until you get to that point then you can snug it up hard, take your knife, scissors, and cut off both tag ends of the backing and the fly line as such and that is how you attach fly line to the backing using a nail knot and that's how you tie fly fishing line to the backing."
