"My name's Steve from Denver Angler. And I'm going to show you how to put the reel on a fly rod and how put the, put the fly rod together. Every reel has a reel seat. And most fly rods on the, at the bottom of the cork grip, it's notched, so one end of the reel seat goes into the, into the bottom of the cork grip. Then on the other end theres usually a little metal piece that slips over the other end of the reel seat. And then there'll be a nut on there that you turn to tighten it up. And you want to make sure that you get this nice and snug. And then after you've been fishing for just a little bit, make sure that it's still on there snug so it doesn't come off during your casting or fishing motions. And that's how you put the reel on the fly rod. The next step is we have to put the rod together. And you want to make sure that the guides are lined up at the end of the section of the rods is a piece called a ferrule. and it's a sleeve where you slip the other end of the rod into it. Push it together firmly. Every fly rod has guides on it that's this little metal ring here. This is the guide that the fly line goes through. This is where the, the rod is joined together. Make sure that all these guides are lined up. Push it together snug. And then finally, this is a four piece rod, we put the fourth end again in, again. Making sure the lines guides are all lined up. On the new modern graphite fly rods, it's not necessary to use any lubricant on the ferrules because it'll come apart nice an easy when you're done fishing for the day. And that's how you put a fly fishing rod and reel together."
