"Hi I'm Gary Reasons, former NFL linebacker and this topic is about how you can become a better wide receiver. Well there is two things that I really think of that really separate great receivers from some of the others and one of them is being able to get open consistently. What I mean by that is separation. What you have to be able to do is you have to be able to set up your defender and create separation. If you are a basketball player this is inherent to what you do because you are used to almost using a slide arm bar and pivoting to where you are able to get open so as you stick and step a move into it you are taking your left arm up. You don't want to push off because that is actually a penalty but you can create space right here between you and the defender and as you turn out then you have your quarterback give you a chance to get the football. The second thing about receivers that really make them special is believe it or not the other thing and part of the game that receivers aren't and most of them don't really like to do and that is what you have to do is be a blocker. I tell you if you are a confident and a great blocker you are not only going to be a huge asset to your team but you are going to watch as your team scores on big plays. Most big plays are set up with wide receivers blocking down field so be a great blocker and create separation as a receiver and you will be a better player for your football team."
