How to Grow an Avocado Tree from a Seed.

"Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen, and in this segment we're going to talk about how to grow an avocado tree from a seed. Now, avocados are such a luscious fruit. I just love em. And so, when you after you eat the fruit there's the big seed pod that's left, and you can actually grow em' by seed. It's a little bit tricky, but there's some easy ways to do it. So, the easiest way to start em' is from the seed themselves using toothpicks. So, just barely insert a toothpick; three on each side, and then set it on a cup of water so that the water is on the bottom of the seed, and the top, the smaller part of the seed, like a Hershey's Kiss candy, is on the tip. And so, what happens is that it'll start growing roots, and it'll start growing a start. And that's a easy way to start it. Make sure that the water's tauch touching the bottom of the seed but not the top, and that you're keeping it on the dry side; just like you would be starting a bulb on gravel. And it'll work with the avocado as well, or you can put it right into the ground itself and it'll grow, but it needs to be warm and it needs not to be too wet at the same time. And it will grow when it's ready. A lot of times they need a little bit of a dormant period too, so once you start em' right from the fruit sometimes they won't shoot immediately. It might take a few months. But, it's a easy way to grow them. Just put toothpicks on each side; put em in a cup of water, and wait for them to grow. And you will be amazed. They will grow, and then, turn around and put em' in a container or right into the ground in a sunny hot spot and they will continue to grow, and you can enjoy them eventually when they do grow their own tree and produce their own fruits."
