is 40 degrees too cold in the evening? I live on the canadian border in mn. I put my aloe plant outside a wk. ago and now it seems to be suffering.

Hi this is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment we are going to talk all about aloe vera growing tips. Now aloe vera is a beautiful plant and it looks like a succulent and it has a nice sword shaped little leaves and it actually has a beautiful bloom that looks lot like a red hot poker and they are all related and actually aloe vera is related to lilies and onions more than any other plant is. It is actually considered a vegetable if you can believe that and it is grown all over the world mostly for medicinal uses because if you burn yourself or you have kind of a rash or dry skin all you have to do is cut a little part of that aloe vera leaf off and it will ooze out this ointment and you just rub out that ointment on your skin and it will heal pretty much any type of cuts that you have or burns. It is a wonderful plant and in many cultures it is used internally as well. But you have to be careful too because too much can be poisonous but it does clear out your system and it heals any type of skin ailments and aloe vera love full hot sun and like other succulents they do want water but they want to dry out in between so you never want to keep them too wet because they will actually rot. They make a great house plant or if you live in a warm climate you can throw them outside year round and even if you live in a cold climate you can leave them in a container outside and then bring them inside for the Winter but aloe vera are an easy plant to grow. Just give them full sun, good drainage. If you have got sand or rock or gravel with just a little bit of compost they do like that good airy compost desert type condition and you will find that you can grow aloe vera very easily.
