So one of the most popular desert roses is a portulaca and it is a beautiful succulent that is very short and it has all types of vibrant rose shaped flowers all over it and one plant will make roses in all different colors that have yellows and pinks and all different colors and it is a succulent and you can start it from any piece of that succulent. Now there is another plant that they call a desert rose and that is adenium. Now adenium is more of a shrub. It is also a succulent and it is from Southeast Asia and the tropics and it is a beautiful shrub with little pink rose type flowers all over it and again it needs full hot sun and good drainage just like any other succulent. So there is actually two types of desert roses when you ear the name desert rose it is either a portulaca or a adenium but they are both great garden plants."
