"Hi, I'm Dr. Larry Klein. I'm a dentist here in St. Petersburg, Florida. We're going to discuss a little bit how to treat dental abscesses with home remedies. Although I'm a big believer in trying to do things with a holistic method, or any other ways that are over-the-counter, a dental abscess like this is not one that you want to try to treat at home. Things like that, there are ways to deal with the symptoms, which I would be glad to talk about at length, but you know, right now, things like that just need to be seen immediately by a dentist so that they can take care of you and get you out of pain and take care of the infection. There are a lot of other different things that are on the market for symptoms: different types of medications, different types of things that you can put on the tooth or in the area that even may subside some of the pain, but as far as treating it itself at home, I would not recommend that. You need to go ahead and get on some antibiotics with the help of a dentist. I would avoid taking whatever antibiotics Aunt Jane has stored in her closet, because you don't know if that is good for you. So when it comes to treating an abscess, like the one here on this screen, definitely give your dentist a call or I can be able to help you. I know you can't cure an abscess at home... but for me I took asprin which I find better than paracetamol and I use a hot pack. The pack I use is an old wives remedy where you fill a sock with salt heat and place on the affected area.. It's not a cure but helps in the middle of the night..
